Do you like history? I do! Not the history that we used to learn at school which was all about Kings and Queens and wars but history that tells a story about the way things really were for ordinary people in bye-gone times.

It is easy, when wandering in the New Forest or on Hengistbury Head or the Southbourne Overcliff only to look at the main features of the landscape, the trees, the sweep of the Christchurch Bay or the carpet of golden heather or gorse. Yet, in doing so, sometimes we miss many things that, although small, are really beautiful.

Hengistbury Head is a great place to visit from Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast (B and B). Just turn left out of the hotel and go to the end of Pinecliffe Avenue, then turn left again and follow the coast road down. It’s nice to walk but walking on Hengistbury Head is great too so [...]
