My brother-in-law often pops down for his own personal writing retreat at Newpoint Hotel. He says it enables him to get away from his family to concentrate on his writing and being somewhere different can also stimulate his creative writing juices.

So it occurred to me that there may be other writers out there, individuals or in small groups, who may also like to do the same and spend a weekend at Newpoint Hotel in Southbourne, Bournemouth getting away from their usual routine to have some quiet time to really concentrate on their writing.

When Rob comes down to spend a few days on his writing, he likes to walk on the beaches and visit Hengistbury Head which has a quiet beauty in the Autumn and Winter. He says it’s the ideal way to relax after writing hard for a few hours.

For those who would like to check out the bright lights, there are all the usual tempting Bournemouth Winter entertainments and shops, of course.

Rob tells me that writers are almost always struggling for cash, and bearing in mind this horrible credit crunch, I have set a special discount offer for writers weekend writing retreats with bargain discount room only rates per night for November 2008 at £16 singles with en-suite, £25 doubles with en-suite (including family rooms with en-suite and up to two occupants) to see how it goes. My two single bedrooms that share a bathroom, I am willing to offer for £15 per night.

All rooms have free Wi-Fi, so you can use the Internet for research, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair drier and television with Freeview.

Writers are also welcome to use  the dining room for their writing if they would like a break from their rooms.
