Yesterday I wrote about cruises that are available from Bournemouth Pier and elsewhere at various times of the year which look lots of fun. However, if you prefer to bounce about on the foaming brine with a more purposeful adventure, a fishing trip might be an idea.
The last time I was at Mudeford Quay I noticed that there were Mackerel fishing boat trips being offered with tackle supplied. I expect the availability of these trips is subject to seasonal variations but it could provide an interesting day out.
Intrigued by the thought of casting a line into the sea and pulling out lots of tasty breakfast potential, I did a little surfing on the web to see what I could find and it seems that Mackerel fishing is also quite good off the Hengistbury Head beaches so it seems that for sea fishermen around Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) there are a number of options.
If you just prefer a gentle walk to absorb the atmosphere of the working fisherman’s life, Mudeford Quay seems to have a thriving lobster fishing industry, judging from the lobster pots on the Quay.
For the kids, there is also the crabbing, of course, with crab friendly bait from the shop on the Quay.
I must run. There goes the phone again. Perhaps it’s somebody looking for a room with a comfy bed and a nourishing breakfast
Bye for now
Christine
